Dear Santa…

Warning: this post might contain content that some people would find sad. If you are not the legal age or mature enough to realize that Santa does not exist, please do not read.

Dear Santa,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter just to ask you how you are doing since I couldn’t find you on facebook or follow you on twitter or instagram. When are you planning to join the virtual reality? And when is your birthday? Where are you celebrating it? Have you traveled recently anywhere? I really wonder what you have been doing all this year and how you managed to stay away from the social media world. But I really care to know how you usually spend your days before Christmas Time.

I am actually wondering if you are doing well, physically and emotionally. I really hope that you are not alone or feeling lonely. I hope that you have enough clothes that would keep you warm in the cold of the North pole. Do you have any piece of clothes other than your red costume? If not, please let me know and we can send you some from here. Plenty of sales at this time of the year!

I am sorry Santa. I am sorry because I know nobody calls you and you are forgotten almost all year long. I am sorry Santa because we remember you for about a month in December only because you send us gifts.

I am sorry Santa because people always send you their wish letters, but never thank you letters after receiving their gifts,

I am sorry Santa because we don’t really care about you all year long, but more about the gifts, and yet you never fail of spreading joy during the holy season of the year. I am sorry Santa that we don’t have our doors open for you. I am sorry that when you have to get us gifts, you have to enter through the dirt and dust of our tiny chimneys (if we had any). We don’t open the door for you and we only keep for you some cookies and milk, as if you were a cat… Do you like sushi by the way?

I am NOT sorry Santa because you don’t exist. I am happy actually that you don’t because if you really did, you would probably be miserable… Miserable, lonely, isolated, and used by people for their own needs.

However, even if you don’t exist, I am thankful Santa that your legend taught me to think about others and be compassionate. You taught me that a stranger who gives you a gift can be a miserable person who needs one. You taught me that giving does not necessary mean receiving anything in exchange, not even a thank you letter.  You taught me that people who spread joy might be miserable and in pain.

But anyway thank you Santa for adding some joy to our lives, even if you don’t exist, and be sure Santa that if you existed some people would really care about you without gifts in exchange.

Merry Christmas.
