Echoes of a simpler life. Train station in Riyak

I wonder how life was like when this photo taken in colors today was more than a photo of abandoned rust and dust. When it was dynamic and in black and white… i can hear the echoes of better days, of a simpler life, of something charming and beautiful that can’t be explained..

  1. Imagine waiting at that train station, on a Friday night. You hold your spouse’s hand, with 10 Lebanese lira’s in your vintage jacket pocket. Young, and happy, both of you can’t wait to reach the festival in Beirut, which is an attraction for Lebanese people from all over the country. Children are running between passengers, gentlemen are wearing well pressed pants tucked under vintage shirts. Ladies with braided hair wear light beautiful dresses decorated with red roses and different shapes. Old men sit on straw chairs reading the newspaper and drinking traditional tea. People with portable carts are selling corn on the cob and desserts. You look across the station at the clock tower, the place is so filled with life, the train arrives with an enthusiastic crew. Bells and whistles, all getting ready for departure, within the crowd a couple saying goodbye. Holding your spouses hand, you step inside the magnificent train, then off the railroad you go.
